Bon appetit!

Can’t get enough flapjacks in your life? Make them one of your top date night menu ideas, or surprise your partner with breakfast (or breakfast for dinner) in bed. All you need is a cup of pancake mix, two tablespoons of oil, and ¾ cup of milk or water. You’ll also need hazelnut spread, which you’ll use for drizzling.

To create these dreamy pancakes, combine the mix, oil, and milk/water in a bowl. Then, whisk these ingredients together until all clumps have disappeared. Afterward, you’ll scoop the mixture and put it in a heated pan containing oil. Finally, you can add hazelnut spread to the flapjacks for a truly delectable meal.

Pancetta and heirloom tomato pasta in a cast iron skillet

 Pancetta Pasta with Heirloom-Roasted Tomatoes

This pancetta pasta is versatile, year-round comfort food, making it one of our favorite romantic recipes for two. What’s great about this recipe is that it includes only six ingredients and can easily be halved to create two servings (though we won’t blame you for enjoying some leftovers the next day)! Plus, it’s the perfect base for getting creative with your meal, whether that means adding seasonal veggies, a different protein, or some extra seasoning for a little kick.

To put this dish together, you technically only need one pound of cooked pasta, ¼ lb. of diced pancetta, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 3 sliced garlic cloves, 16 oz. roasted heirloom tomatoes, and a ½ cup of grated parmesan cheese. After cooking the pasta, you’ll want to set aside a cup of pasta water for later. Brown the pancetta first—you can skip this step or substitute a plant-based protein, if you’re vegetarian—then, in a separate pan, combine olive oil, garlic, your tomatoes, and the pasta water.

Cook until the mixture is slightly reduced, then add your pasta to the pan and mix! After everything’s combined, it’s time to bring in the pancetta and the parmesan for a delicious date night meal your partner is sure to enjoy.

Flank steak with Morita Salsa Macha and greens

Grill-Roasted Flank Steak with Morita Salsa Macha

Looking for more romantic recipes for two? Satisfy the meat lover in your life with this grilled flank steak recipe that packs some spice!

The original recipe only serves one, but we’ve doubled the measurements to serve you and your partner. To prep your date night menu, you’ll need two 8 oz. flank steaks, four canned chipotles in adobo, 2 oz. peeled black garlic, 2 cups of olive oil, two large heirloom tomatoes, one Tatume squash, 10 oz. of Morita Salsa Macha, 2 cups of watercress, and a lime! Once you’ve assembled all of your ingredients, get ready to cook!

You’ll want to start ahead of time by prepping your marinade for the flank steak. To do this, you’ll combine your garlic, chipotle, olive oil, and salt in a blender. Once combined, coat your flank steaks in the marinade and let them sit for 2 hours.

In the meantime, your partner can start pickling the squash. All they’ll need to do is peel ribbons of the Tatume squash, lightly season them with salt and lime, and set them aside for 1 to 3 hours.

Once you’re ready to start cooking, heat your grill to medium-high or create a hotspot if you’re using charcoal. After slicing your tomatoes and tossing them with olive oil, you’ll want to set them on the grill to char for a minute before setting them aside.

Then, it’s time for the steak. Unlike a ribeye, you’ll want to cook each flank steak to medium, so that the fibers in the meat will become tender. On the hot side of the grill, cook the steaks for 1 minute and 30 seconds each before flipping them, then add another minute and 30 seconds. Once they’ve been exposed to the heat, set them on the cool side of the grill to rest for 3 minutes, then slice and assemble!

For garnish, you’ll take your watercress, salsa macha, squash, and charred tomatoes and place them all on top of your steaks. After your hard work has paid off, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy your creation with the one you love most!
