Creamy brie with floral saffron is the combination you need this fall! This craveable seasonal flatbread brings all the fall feels into your home for a cozy evening alone or with guests. Caramelized onions and apples add a fresh and sweet touch to this flavor-packed dish.

Ingredients

• 2 onions, sliced

• salted butter

• 1 Tbs sage

• 4 flatbreads

• 8oz round of brie, sliced

• 3 apples

• bunch of arugula

• 1 cup of raw walnuts

• drizzle of honey

Directions

1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees

2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat, then add enough butter to coat the bottom of the pan. Add in your onions and stir until they are fully coated in the butter. Cook for 5 minutes. Stir periodically until the onions are caramelized (approx. 40 minutes) 

   Pro tip: salt your onions before cooking them to pull the moisture out. Lower the heat if your onions start to burn before they are fully cooked and add in more butter if the onions begin to dry out during the cooking process!

3. While you're onions are caramelizing, add a glob of butter to another pan over medium low heat and add a 1 Tbsp (or more!) of sage. Let the flavors combine while the butter melts. Once the butter has melted, take off heat and put it to the side.

4. Once your onions are done, brush your flatbreads with the sage butter. Then add your sliced brie, caramelized onions, and apple slices to the top. Bake in the oven for 12-14 minutes, until cheese is melty.

5. When you put your flatbreads in the oven to bake, add in another baking sheet with your cup of raw walnuts. These will only take 8-10 minutes to roast, so keep your eye on them to ensure they don’t burn. Take these out done and chop into small pieces.

6. Take your flatbreads out of the oven and add your  arugula and toasted walnuts to the fully baked flatbreads. Drizzle with honey, sprinkle with saffron, and serve hot!
