Tamar and Elena, Masa Madre

We’re Tamar and Elena–passionate bakers and longtime friends from Mexico City. Masa Madre blends our shared Mexican heritage and Tamar’s Jewish roots through flavors inspired by our grandmothers’ kitchens. We grew up near one another in Mexico City with big families who loved to eat. As recent immigrants to Chicago, we missed the taste of home and found bread to be the key to connection and community. Our artisanal baked goods are made fresh by hand with carefully sourced ingredients and low impact packaging. We hope that you find a little piece of yourself in our offerings and enjoy them as much as we do.
