Lauren Isherwood & Nick Baingo, Vumami Foods
Vumami Foods was created by two omnivores-turned-vegans, Lauren and Nick. Their plant-based journey started many years ago at a Buddhist vegan restaurant in South Korea. During the course of the meal, there were countless small dishes all with unique textures and flavors, and many shared a rich, savory, umami quality. It was amazing to them that it was all so delicious and 100% plant-based!
As lifelong condiment hoarders and foodies, they wanted something that they could add to their vegan meals to make them as delicious and craveable as the food they enjoyed at the temple. So, Umami Bomb was born. This specially crafted shiitake chili oil was created through a process of (nearly) endless trial and error and the careful blending of aromatic spices, fermented bean paste, and shiitake mushrooms.
Whether it's weeknight leftovers or a gourmet meal, a tablespoon or two of Umami Bomb adds a unique and irresistible quality to any dish. Their customers (both vegan and non) tell them that it’s so tasty and addictive, they put that shiitake on everything!
